In turbo and hydro high voltage generator applications, one of the most important parameter to monitor is the wear of the stator bar insulation. After a certain duration of operation, the stator bar are subject to the hight possiblity of movement in her slot. This movement can mechanically damaging the exterior insulating surface of the stator bar which has the effect of increasing the partial discharges along the conductors. Ultimately, this deterioration has for effect to stop the generator to make the necessary repairs to fix the problem (replacement of insulation, revise the fixing the bar).
